This Privacy Policy explains how PetVax AI ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the PetVax AI mobile application (the "App"). By using PetVax AI, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Who We Are

We are responsible for determining how your information is used in the context of the App.

2. Information We Collect

We aim to collect only the information needed to provide and improve the App.

2.1 Information You Provide

• Account details (if sign-in is enabled): Email address or account ID (e.g. Apple/Google sign-in via Firebase Auth)
• Pet profiles: Pet name, species, breed, sex, birthdate, weight, notes, photos
• Vaccination and health records: Vaccine names, dates given, next due dates, reminders, vet visits, medications, events, notes
• Images you scan: Photos of vaccination cards or health records that you choose to scan

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Device information: Device model, OS version, language, region, anonymized identifiers
• App usage information: Basic analytics such as screens visited, features used, error logs (where configured)
• Approximate location: Derived from system settings or ad networks (for ads and regional compliance). We do not track precise GPS location for pet tracking.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide core app functionality: Create and manage pet profiles, store vaccination and health records, and display your pet's health timeline
• Provide AI features: Use OCR and AI to extract text from vaccination cards and generate health summaries, insights, and recommendations
• Send reminders and notifications: Local notifications for upcoming or overdue vaccinations and events
• Improve the App: Understand which features are used and fix crashes and performance issues
• Manage subscriptions and purchases: Verify Pro access and restore purchases
• Show or remove ads: Display ads to free users and remove ads for Pro users

We do not sell your personal data.

4. AI, OCR, and Cloud Processing

Some features of PetVax AI rely on OCR and cloud-based AI processing:

• OCR (text recognition): When you scan a vaccination card, the image may be processed on-device using Google ML Kit and/or sent to secure cloud services to improve text recognition.
• AI insights via Firebase & OpenAI: We use Firebase Cloud Functions to call AI services (e.g. OpenAI) to generate vaccine summaries, health overviews, and recommendations. Data sent may include pet name, species, approximate age, and vaccination/event summaries (e.g. vaccine names, dates, upcoming due dates). We do not intentionally send your account password, payment information, or unrelated personal messages to AI services.

We use reasonable measures to minimize the amount of personal data sent to AI providers and to avoid sending unnecessary identifiers.

5. Where Your Data Is Stored

Depending on your usage and configuration, data may be stored:

• On your device: Pet profiles, vaccination records, and settings (via local storage / SharedPreferences), notification schedules
• In the cloud: Authentication data and some user records via Firebase (Firebase Auth, Firestore); purchase and entitlement data via RevenueCat; AI requests/responses and cached insights via Firebase Cloud Functions

Cloud data may be stored on servers located in multiple regions (e.g. the United States or EU), depending on the infrastructure of Firebase, OpenAI, and other providers.

6. Third-Party Services

PetVax AI uses third-party services to operate:

• Firebase (Google): Firebase Core, Auth, Cloud Functions, Firestore — for authentication, data storage, and backend logic. See Firebase Privacy.
• Google ML Kit (Text Recognition): On-device OCR when scanning vaccination cards
• OpenAI (via Firebase Cloud Functions): AI-powered insights and recommendations. See OpenAI Privacy.
• RevenueCat: Manages in-app purchases and subscriptions; receives anonymized identifiers and purchase information. See RevenueCat Privacy.
• Google Mobile Ads (AdMob): Displays ads for free users; may collect device and usage information to show relevant ads. See Google Privacy.

Each provider processes data according to its own privacy policy. We recommend reviewing their policies for more detail.

7. Ads, Purchases, and Analytics

• Ads: Free users may see banner or interstitial ads via Google Mobile Ads. These networks may use device identifiers and coarse location (if allowed) to show relevant ads.
• Purchases & Subscriptions: Handled by Apple (App Store), Google (Play Store), and RevenueCat. We do not see or store your full payment card details.
• Analytics & Diagnostics: We may collect anonymous or aggregated statistics (e.g. number of pets per user, feature usage) to improve the app and plan new features.

8. Data Retention

We keep your data for as long as you use the App and as needed for the purposes described in this policy. If you request deletion of your data (see Account and data deletion below), we will remove or anonymize it where technically and legally possible.

9. Account and Data Deletion

You can delete your PetVax AI account and the personal data we associate with it. This helps us meet app store requirements and your privacy rights.

9.1 Delete in the app (signed-in users)

If you are signed in:

1. Open the App and go to the More tab.
2. Open Profile.
3. Tap Delete Account and confirm. You may be asked to sign in again (email, Google, or Apple) for security.

When deletion completes, we remove your Firebase authentication account and user-scoped data stored in our systems (such as pet profiles, vaccination and event records, and related cloud content tied to your account) where technically possible. Local data on your device may remain until you uninstall the App or clear app data in your device settings.

9.2 Delete by email

If you cannot use the App, email support@petvax.ai from the address associated with your account, with the subject "PetVax AI Account Deletion". We may ask you to verify identity before processing. We will complete or confirm deletion within a reasonable time, subject to legal retention requirements.

9.3 Subscriptions and third parties

Deleting your App account does not automatically cancel an active subscription billed through Apple or Google. Cancel renewal in your App Store or Play Store subscription settings if needed. Some information may be retained by payment and subscription providers (Apple, Google, RevenueCat) according to their policies and legal obligations.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your region, you may have rights such as access, correction, deletion, restriction/objection, and data portability. To exercise your rights, email us at support@petvax.ai with the subject "PetVax AI Privacy Request". We may ask you to verify your identity.

You can also turn off notifications in system settings, disable ad tracking/personalized ads at the OS level, and delete the app to remove local data on your device.

11. Children's Privacy

PetVax AI is designed for use by adults managing pet health records. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at support@petvax.ai and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.

12. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including secure communication (HTTPS), access controls in Firebase and backend services, and limited internal access on a need-to-know basis. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. You can help by using strong device passcodes/biometrics, keeping your OS and app up to date, and not sharing your account credentials.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will update the "Effective date" at the top and, where appropriate, notify you within the App or via the app store listing. Your continued use of PetVax AI after changes means you accept the updated policy.
